We bought the Motorhome and it's a Winnebago. It's called a Minnie Winnie and Rich says there aint nothing mini about it. It's 31ft long. We bought it in Santa Clarita, an hours drive from Santa Monica on the freeways. Rich was not looking forward to driving it back but he did a great job and we now have it parked out the front of the house at Santa Monica. I hope to post some photos of the inside soon. We're really happy with it and it's quite roomy considering.... (may change my mind after a month living in it.)

Relaxing Morning at the Beach
After dragging the kids around on the weekend looking at motorhomes, we finally spent a relaxing morning at the beach and park. We found the best coffee to date, grabbed a takeaway and headed for the beach. The kids enjoyed 'dizzy whizzes' from Dad and Chloe found some furry friends.

Driving in LA
We've now been here one full week and finally got the courage to hire a car and go driving in LA. Before we picked up the car we made the best purchase to date, a navigator - 'Tom Tom'. So as everyone knows, travelling anywhere in the car with small children is not altogether relaxing, so trying to pacify the kids, keep my eye and ear on the 'Tom Tom' and reassure Rich we're doing okay, I didn't see too much of the landscape as it whizzed by. Rich did a great job and we got there and back in one piece and minimal swearing and arguing. Did we go sightseeing, no, we looked at our first motorhome and plan to look at another one tomorrow.

We made it to LA
We finally touched down at LAX, just before 9am LA time (3am Melbourne time). Luke was beside himself he was so tired and Rich and I were not much better. Chloe took a tumble in the Customs line, which saw us fast tracked through the queue.
We got all our luggage, two trolleys overflowing, one pram with two kids and a stack of hand luggage. I had pushed a trolley with one hand and the pram with the other. Rich had a trolley and pulled a small case behind stacked with more bags. The Immigration queue didn't take too long and we got a taxi straight away and only just managed to fit everything in.
The house at Santa Monica is exactly as seen on the internet and suits us perfectly. Over the last couple of days we have discovered it's in a great location, not far from the beach and a park and also walking distance to two separate shopping districts.
We haven't done much sightseeing yet, just the Santa Monica Pier. Luke was extremely keen to go on the dodgem cars (suitable for 3-9 year olds) and once on quickly changed his mind after moving about 2 feet. I don't think we will be queuing for the rides at Disneyland!!
